THE MESSAGE BEARER

Sharing The Gospel is always a unique experience. Each time we are obedient to the Lord we are a success, Even though there are certain people and experiences that stand out because of their uniqueness.

During our recent BMMI trip Dr. Izzard, Dr. Nicely and Dr. Chung and I were asked to visit some village people that were not able to get down the mountain to the consult area. The first thing we became aware of is how out of shape we are. At one point we were following a 70 + year old woman up the hill. We could hardly keep up and had to ask her to stop to get our breath. Being “shown up” by grandma in mountain climbing isn’t a real ego booster!

On one particular house call Dr. Izzard and I saw a man that had some sort of demyelinating desease. He was confined to a chair and could no longer speak or eat solid food. Although there was very little we could do for him physically we were able to share The Gospel with him and his family.

As I explained that heaven is a free gift that our loving God gives us through faith in Jesus Christ the incapacitated man would blink to show he was following and understanding The Gospel Presentation. When the time came I prayed with the three adults in the room and when I asked them if they had received Christ as savior the sick man made the only sound of the visit. “Siiiauh” he said, indicating his excitement of his new faith in Jesus.

It is so meaningful to know that the Gospel has literally ripped a soul from the clutches of death and given them eternal life, so fortifying to see the Power of the Gospel in the life of a man soon to meet his maker. For this man the only comfort he will ever have in life is the knowledge of Eternal life.I am truly blessed to be the message bearer to the Aztec people.

CLEAR AND PRESENT DANGER

I find it interesting that news of danger is often scarier than danger itself. The anticipation of danger is scarier than the danger. You know when the Swine Flu news first hit the public our town was a ghost town. The few people that were on the street wore mask and hurriedly walked past. All of the pharmacies sold out of hand sanitizer and face mask. Folks would cross the street so as to not shake hands and if they were unable to avoid the handshake, would walk around like they had snot on their hands until they could wash. All of this without a single local case of swine flu.
Today, with 10 confirmed cases locally the streets are full of un-preoccupied people without mask or precaution. Now that the danger is clear and present folks don’t seem to worry as much. What a topsy turvey world!!!

A DOG'S LIFE

As we live through swine flu, global warming, failing economies, narco-wars, kidnappings and earthquakes I looked at my dogs and desired to have a DOG’S LIFE.

See, dogs have no worries, no payroll to meet, no bills to pay or accounts to review. Dogs don’t have to work, don’t have a boss, and could care less if the other dogs in the yard like them or not. They have no deadlines to meet, they prefer to let the day, or their nose, take them where they may. This carefree life makes them generous and friendly always ready to treat themselves to a quick lick, and us too, for that matter. The sun could fall, the dollar could collapse, disease could rule, and the dog’s life would go on unchanged. If the food ran out they would be content to sleep until the very end, always friendly enough to share a lick and tail wag with a friend or passerby.

The only problem is that if I had a Dog’s Life I would not have the chance to know Jesus as my Savior. So give me swine flu, global warming, failing economies, narco-wars, kidnappings and earthquakes so long as I can have Jesus too! You see having Jesus makes all of these other things light, making life carefree, allowing us to live friendly and generous lives. Jesus is and always will be the answer.
