Sharing The Gospel is always a unique experience. Each time we are obedient to the Lord we are a success, Even though there are certain people and experiences that stand out because of their uniqueness.
During our recent BMMI trip Dr. Izzard, Dr. Nicely and Dr. Chung and I were asked to visit some village people that were not able to get down the mountain to the consult area. The first thing we became aware of is how out of shape we are. At one point we were following a 70 + year old woman up the hill. We could hardly keep up and had to ask her to stop to get our breath. Being “shown up” by grandma in mountain climbing isn’t a real ego booster!
On one particular house call Dr. Izzard and I saw a man that had some sort of demyelinating desease. He was confined to a chair and could no longer speak or eat solid food. Although there was very little we could do for him physically we were able to share The Gospel with him and his family.
As I explained that heaven is a free gift that our loving God gives us through faith in Jesus Christ the incapacitated man would blink to show he was following and understanding The Gospel Presentation. When the time came I prayed with the three adults in the room and when I asked them if they had received Christ as savior the sick man made the only sound of the visit. “Siiiauh” he said, indicating his excitement of his new faith in Jesus.
It is so meaningful to know that the Gospel has literally ripped a soul from the clutches of death and given them eternal life, so fortifying to see the Power of the Gospel in the life of a man soon to meet his maker. For this man the only comfort he will ever have in life is the knowledge of Eternal life.I am truly blessed to be the message bearer to the Aztec people.
